Well, today around 9:30 AM, I found myself laying in bed staring at the ceiling. I get depressed occasionally. Not often, thanks to St John’s Wort; an herb that you can buy at the store. I’ve been taking it since the mid 90’s and it’s done wonders for my attitude. After I saw how well it worked, I had to conclude that my problem was purely chemical. Nothing related to my situation in life.
In any event, I found myself laying there, thinking about Sombrero Peak. I have been asking friends if they want to climb it, but no takers. One friend said he might have some time in 2 months. (People are too busy these days.) I’ve been holding off because it’s slightly dangerous to go hiking alone.
So, I decided to go ahead and try it alone. I stopped at Target before I left to get a backpack and some sunscreen. That way I could carry a lunch, and a camera and some water. I also bought a handy pair of “micro” plyer’s that have a 12 function micro tool: knife, scissors, wire cutters, ruler, to name a few. My thinking was I could use it to pull out cactus thorns.
Long story short, I only made it half way. I thought my walking 3 miles a day would prepare me for this type of hike. Not even close. But still, I REALLY enjoyed eating my sandwich way up there in a shady spot on a rock.
I took pictures with my camera phone that went to my mob and also some higher res pic’s which I uploaded into a new photo album on the left hand side.
