Desserts

I like to think I exhibit moderation in things I eat and drink, but there’s one area that needs definite work. That would be dessert. Dessert is one thing my kids learned about early in life. If you eat your dinner, you get dessert. Every night it’s the same thing. Little voices saying “Can I have my dessert now?” They learned well from their daddy.

My problem with dessert is that when I find one I like, I overindulge. My past overindulgences:

1) Edwards key lime pie. Best key lime pie you can buy in a store. When we first got to Tucson, I even called the company, because I couldn’t find it in stores here. They told me where to find it (Super walmart), and sent me a few free pie coupons.
2) Krispy Kreme donuts. (It took a bunch of donuts to burn out on them!)
3) Oreo ice cream sandwiches.
4) Boston cream pie, can’t remember the brand.
5) Ice cream. (I burned out on ice cream a long time ago, and still don’t much care for it.)

My latest craving is Quizno’s Chocolate Bundt Cakes. I’ve been eating them one or two/day. I have to make runs to Quizno’s and buy 4 at a time. The sales lady always asks, “That’s all you want?” (Note: If you get one, warm it up 15 seconds in the microwave.)

So, should I try to stop this? I mean, I’ll still eat a Krispy Kreme if it’s hot. But I won’t make the drive for that alone anymore.

Bottom line, I guess I don’t see any harm in it, but I wish I still liked key lime pie!
