Daylight Savings

To the people in the US that don’t live in Arizona: “Welcome back to where the sun really is in the sky!” Yes, it really gets that dark at 6PM.

For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, the state of Arizona is the only state in the US that does not observe daylight savings time (DST). This is where I am lucky enough to live at present.

I’ve only been in Arizona 3 years, so most of my life I’ve been in places that do the old “spring forward” and “fall back” routine every year. I gotta say, I like not having it anymore.

Why? In my opinion, DST further insulates us from nature, ie, what’s really happening on planet earth. We already shut out everything with concrete, air conditioning, and lights. DST fools us into thinking the the sun stays up past 8:30 at night.

I’m not saying DST is a bad thing. All I’m saying is that, I was in DST, now I’m out of DST, and I like being out of it. It’s also VERY nice not having to go around resetting 20 clocks around the house and in the cars.
