Another day in the life…

I thought I would take one post and just give a blow by blow of what happened today. Every once in a while (I think I did it once before) I think this is OK.

Today was a two nap day. Why? Probably because it started so early. I wake up, go through all the routines, and then crash back to bed around 8:30 AM. What routines, you say?

1) coffee
2) answer email
3) read daily blogs, read slashdot (replaces a newspaper)
4) watch screensavers saved on Tivo, with laptop on lap.
5) surf the internet during the show, continue surfing after the show.
6) Kids wake up at this point and I feed them both and get them settled so they don’t wake up Heather.
7) I can now go for my walk.

The walk zonks me and the first nap gets a green light. Heather gets up while I’m sleeping and keeps the kids occupied. Now I wake up, shower and we are all off to church! Yes, even atheists can go to church! UU churches accept anyone with any belief system. Today’s sermon is on “day of the dead.” We brought two pictures to put on the table: Heather’s great aunt who died in a car accident, and our little dog Bennie, who lived with us the first 11 years of our marriage.

We are now off to find someplace to eat. I suggest Johnny Rockets to Heather and she says OK, so we all go to the University of Arizona campus and get shakes and malts, oh yeah, and some food. There’s a great grassy area with oak trees behind Johnny Rockets where they play, climb trees, and collect acorns. Heather and I just sit there on a bench watching the kids play away (and drain their energy.)

We drive back home, and whammo, Heather and I both crash. Her nap #1, my nap #2. And I know what you are thinking, and no, that’s not why we were sleepy. Kids just tend to tire you out.

The rest of the day? Well, it’s not over yet. Earlier I cooked a steak on the grill. Had some of my box wine Cabernet Sauvignon to nullify the effects of the fat. I fed everyone AND did the dishes AND bathed the kids. Heather is now reading them their bedtime story. The fun should begin shortly, when Sierra is put to bed…

I am now discussing what may happen next:

It’ll start with a few episodes of 24 season 2 (from DVD.) And of course, I will have my Quizno’s chocolate bundt cake during the show. After that, …. well i think I should end it there.

Good night.
