Holiday ramblings

The holidays have been a lot of fun this year. Quentin got a new puppy that he decided to name gingerbread, or ginger for short. (They were making gingerbread at the time.) Our last dog, Bennie died about 4 years ago and Q has been gently hinting for a new one for a year or so. It was only when Heather started hinting, that I relented. I don’t mind having a dog. I love dogs. I just hate giving up the freedom of not having dog. Here’s a picture of Bennie, with the author about 10 years ago.

Heather and I decided to only exchange one gift each, which we picked ourselves. She chose a bike (which we still don’t have) and I chose an X-box. I like that approach. I hope she did too, so we can start doing that every year.

Two days ago, I did another hike, to Wasson peak with friends Craig and Mike. I met Craig because Heather knows his wife. Craig is in amazing shape. He’s a long distance runner, a cyclist, and hikes extensively. I got the feeling anything aerobic, he is up for. I could tell he was very light on his feet, going up that trail. While I was slogging up, thinking about how sore I was going to be the next day, he was up ahead walking with his hands clasped behind his back. I can remember being light on my feet, back when I was running in college. I miss that feeling. (I took a couple of pics of the wasson hike in my moblog on the left hand side.)

Well, I’m feeling like doing some work. I better hurry before the feeling passes. Hope you and yours have a great 2004!
