My blog has gone dormant. I’ve seen this happen to many others and I hate that it’s happening to mine. The problem is that I’m plumb out of observations. But I hate to not write at all, for many reasons. So I’m going to write about what’s happened since my last entry. Diary entries are not something I want my blog to turn into, but they ARE better than nothing.
My last blog entry indicated that the shit was going to hit the fan with my business. It did, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It actually cleared the air a bit, and accomplished some things. So the problems are still there, but the communication is better. My stress level is back to zero.
That’s the end of the bad news. I’ve got another business opportunity cooking and it looks good. The contracts not signed yet, but it could potentially be a new INDEPENDENT source of cash flow which is always a good thing.
Heather and I got to go to another West Coast Swing Dance Competition, this time in Phoenix BY OURSELVES! We have a great babysitter and offered her a nice daily rate if she would live in our house and watch our kids. She accepted, and moreover said she’s ready to do it again.
We both competed in the novice division of the dance competition and didn’t even make it into the semi’s. But we weren’t surprised at all. The competition was fierce. People that are obviously advanced dancers are still considered “novice” if they have never won. In short, it will be years before Heather and I are good enough to win the novice division. But that’s OK because I’m not in this for gold stars. It’s just plain fun to dance! We had so much fun at this one, that we are going to another one on Labor Day in Dallas.
After we got back, my sister and her son flew over to Tucson to stay with us for 5 days. She had never been to Arizona. I think she had a good time, and I know her son and Quentin had a great time.
I just finished reading an awesome philosophy book: The Consolations of Philosophy by Alain de Botton. It was both easy to read, and applicable to everyday life. In short, the best philosophy book I’ve read. Highly recommended. I bought mine at Borders. I’m going to now have to read his other books.
Last night, I went to a Buddhist temple with a friend. We are starting an 8 week course in meditation. Why? I haven’t been meditating on my own, and I know it’s good for me. And who better to learn it from than a Buddhist monk?
The friend and I hit Pei Wei after the class. If you have a Pei Wei, you have to try their cream cheese and crab wontons. Outstanding.
