As I wrote in the prior post, Heather and I drove to Phoenix Sunday to compete in the monthly novice Jack and Jill. There were 18 couples, so the first round was 3 heats of 6 couples each. We had to dance two songs with two different women. Out of those 18, the judges picked 10 couples. Heather and I both made this first cut.
For the second round, the remaining 10 had to dance, not alone, but with one other couple. There’s a good 200 people in the audience…… Ta da! we didn’t make the cut. What’s worse, we went and looked at the judges comments afterwards. I was 10th and Heather was 9th. (We didn’t dance with each other.)
Neither of us are discouraged from this though. We love this stuff. For me, it just makes me want to practice more. In fact, I just signed up for private lessons with a new teacher. So now I’ll be taking TWO private lessons a week, THREE group lessons a week, and TWO social dances a week.
Sigh.
